Activities in Datça
Surfing
If you are crazy about activities on water, the Datca Peninsula is just the place for you to spend your holiday. Along the coast you'll find surfer schools offering instruction in surfing, wind-surfing and kite-surfing. You have to pay for the instruction. Needless to say, the schools also hire out all the necessary surfer equipment. Surf Camping is situated outside Datca not far away, and here you can rent equipment and receive instruction.
Diving
Datca has a small diving centre, Datca Diving. They run courses and it is possible for you to take a diving certificate. Further information is available at the homepage http://www.datcadiving.com/
Sailing and water-skiing
If you would like to be the captain of your own boat, you can rent a yacht or a pleasure boat down at the harbour in Datca, but you might also be content with simply joining a planned boattrip. There are daily tours to bays and lagoons, places which can only be reached by boat. On these boat-trips you'll have ample opportunities of going for a swim or snorkling. Besides, there are boat-trips to the Island of Simi and Knidos from Datca Harbour. You can rent water skis at 50€ per hour.
There are great opportunities for walks in the surrounding mountains. These walks are not guided, so we advise you to buy a good map. You should get out early in the morning. Temperatures may be high in the middle of the day, so when the midday heat is at its highest it is time for you to have a good long siesta before you continue your walk later in the afternoon.
If you are an 'on the move' person with petrol in your blood, you may also explore the countryside in a jeep or on a motorbike. Some travelling agencies arrange jeep and motorcycle safaris.
Cultural sights
Knidos, the outermost tip of the peninsula, offers a unique historic experience and is undoubtedly the most popular cultural sight. Knidos holds the remains of a 2000-year-old Greek town with a large amphitheatre and a fantastic view of the sea. You can get there by bus or by boat. The price of a mini-bus for maximum 12 people is 120€. By boat it is 15€ per person..
Planned day-tours to one of the nearby villages can be arranged at about app 120€ for a minibus holding 12 people.
